Assistant Swim Teacher Award Update

The Assistant Swim Teacher Award is for the swim teacher who wants to develop their skills and gain an understanding of how to facilitate learning. Anyone aged 16 years or over can register for the Assistant Swim Teacher Award course.
The following changes apply to courses from 12th October 2009.
Changes in the processes are as follows;
- Option to start recording teaching hours before attending the 1 day course (with a maximum of 10hrs recorded, this does not include lesson plans).

Lesson plans must now be a total of 10 sequential plans - as either one block of 10 or two blocks of 5 - recorded in the current log book.
Changes in the course include;
- Updated power-point presentation
- Additional content on how learners learn
- Additional content on communication skills in the lesson environment
- Additional content on buoyancy and balance
- All enrolments received after 12th October 2009 with pay the new course fee of $160 pp.
