Teaching Swimmers with a Disability
This course is designed to encourage teachers of swimming to be confident to include people with a disability into their swimming programme.
Aims
- To understand the benefits of learn to swim for people who have a disability
- To give participants an understanding of working with people with disabilities
- To make participants aware of the range and variation of disabilities
- To give participants the basic knowledge of how to communicate in a professional manner with swimmers with a disability
Requirements for Certification
- Attend one day course and participate in all aspects of the course including pool sessions
- Log 20 hrs of teaching two different swimmers with a disability.
- Complete a related Assignment
- Sucessfully complete practical assesment
Course fee - $200 pp
Pre-Requisite for Course
- Hold a current Assistant Swim Teacher Award
- Hold a current First Aid Certificate (US6401 & US6402)
